Riding High on Everest
Two Brit Dakar riders are off to Tibet in November in an attempt to break the record of highest altitude on a motorcycle.
Tamsin Jones will be seeking to break fellow Dakar competitor Annie Seels record of 5305m set in 2003 whilst Craig Bounds will be setting his sights on 6005m reached by Japanese rider Shinji Kazama. Both attempts will take place on the northern slopes of Mount Everest.
The duration of the expedition is two weeks and will start on Nov 10th from Kathmandu, Nepal, then head to Tibet where the ride to Everest base camp (5200m) will begin. The ultimate objective is to reach the Advanced Base Camp at 6400m.

BMW K1300R is known to be the world's most powerful nude bike. It consists of a 4 cylinder in-line engine with 1300cc displacement, yielding a power of 173 hp and a torque of up to 140 Nm Its top speed is about 300 km/h given that sport tires are mounted on. It has a cardan shaft for power transmission and this makes maintenance much easier. This movie was filmed in the middle of winter and there was no possibility of riding the bike. ABR vets raise over £17,000 for charity
A team of eight motorbiking vets has raised a staggering £17,834 for animal welfare charities by riding over 1,500 miles in five days across England, Scotland and Ireland.
Called 'Vets with Horsepower', the tour saw the team ride from Gloucester to Norfolk, then north to Hull before crossing the border into West Lothian and finally taking the ferry to Ireland before the final leg to Dublin.

Most of the hurts and troubles coming from riding is from not being really comfortable on your bike.While this can come from a variety of reasons the main one is from handlebar position. This is not always that obvious because riders tend to adjust their fixed position to the bike whereas the correct thing to do is adjust the bike to your body.

Wrist Joint AngleWhile doing this also take careful note of the angle of your wrists to the angle of the bars. Oftentimes you will find your wrists are at a slightly different angle to the bars. This means that you need bars set at a slightly different angle to the originals. There are a variety of handlebar risers on the market and you should be able to find a set that meets your need if you experiment a bit by using the above test.
BMW K Series Owners For riders of some of the BMW K series model Motorcycles, Flood makes an adjustable riser that you can fiddle around with to get into just the right position thus saving buying a range of bars until you get it right. Downside is they are only good for models K1200RS, K1300RS and R1200S.
Rebuild Your BMW R1200S
These bars are limited in their adjustment though as they only rise about an inch (25mm) although they can be set so they are a bit closer or a bit further away from the rider and no cable or other wiring extensions are needed.Â
If this doesn't meet your requirements then you need to go to other makers but you will be into more work extending cables and brake lines to get a more rise. It is amazing sometimes how a very small change in handlebar position can make a huge difference in riding comfort and reduce or eradicate "after the ride" aches and troubles.

Many hardened adventurers will tell you that the best stoves for heating up your din dins in out-of-the-way destinations are alcohol burners. Fuel is available just about anywhere (as opposed to fuel for gas stoves), maintenance is kept to a minimum and their simple designs mean that they might just out live you.
The BCB Crusader Cooking System (SRP £49.25) is an alcohol stove and cook set for one person that was originally intended for use by the military (the camouflaged storage bag being a bit of a give-away), so for this reason it's been designed to be easy to use and maintain.
